What does a fuse do?
A fuse melts when the current exceeds a particular value, breaking the circuit, preventing fire or electrocution
What do circuit breakers do?
When current exceeds a particular value, the switch ‘trips’, minimising risk or electrocution or fire. Circuit breakers can be reset as the wire is pushed back into place, in contact with the iron catch, completing the circuit
Double insulation
Electrical insulators are poor conductors of electricity. An earth wire will not be required

Layer 2 - live and neutral wire insulation
