How is proximal convoluted tubule adapted for selective reabsorption?
What happens during selective reabsorbtion?
During selective reabsorption, sodium ions are transported from the epithelial cell into the blood via active transport. Sodium ions and other substances in the lumen are then transported into the epithelial cell via facilitated diffusion using co-transport proteins. These substances then travel down their concentration gradient into the blood .
where does selective reabsorption take place?
proximal convoluted tubule.
what is the process by which water is selectively reabsorbed?
osmosis
what are three adaptations of the proximal convoluted tubule?
