If the manual pitch trim is available, the ECAM procedure:
requests the flight crew to TRIM FOR NEUTRAL ELEV.
The flight crew must use the pitch trim wheel, in order to maintain the elevators to the neutral position in reference to the F/CTL SD page. This action:
provides maximum authority to the elevators.
If the elevators are in the UP position:
The flight crew must move the pitch trim wheel in the nose UP direction to set the elevators to neutral
If the elevators are in the DOWN position
The flight crew must move the pitch trim wheel in the nose DOWN direction to set the elevators to neutral
If the manual pitch trim is not available, the flight crew must:
extend the landing gear after CONF 3 and stabilization at VAPP
The autotrim function with the elevators is:
lost in direct law.
