What is stem cells?
It is undifferentiated/ unspecialised cell
What is totipotent stem cells?
It can differentiate into any type of cells
A fertilised egg, zygote
What is Pluripotent stem cells?
These stem cells can differentiate into all types of tissue but not the whole organism
Early embryos
What is multipotent stem cells?
They can only form a range of cells within a cerain types of tissue
E.g. bone marrow
What are some uses of stem cells?
Why do some people disagree the use of totipotent stem cells?
Totipotent stem cells are taken from embryo, fertilised cells
this means the embryo have to be destroy
This is against ethics believe of ‘the beginning of life starts at fertilisation’
