Gospels contain many statements which can clearly be taken to mean that Jesus is Good in human form

Christianity is based of jesus and still has a unique authority from god. This is expressed by the term ‘Son of God’ in the Ninceen Creed

A

Liberalists – they would approach Jesus’ authority through:
a) their view of the inspiration and authority of the Bible - Son of god can refer to anyone
b) whether or not any particular claim about Jesus goes against science and reason.

Those who follow a particular sect that believe Jesus was not divine: Adoptionism, Arianism, The Cathars, Unitarianism

Jesus as only human- Specific Christian Sects

A

Adoptionism- Believed Jesus was adopted at Baptism, rejected as heresy by the Church at the end of the 3rd Century by the Synod of Antioch

Arianism -Arius believed that Jesus was not truly divine and the title ‘Son of God’ was an honour bestowed upon him. Council of Nicea ruled against Arius in 325

The Cathars- They believed that the human form was too corrupt for the Son of God, so Jesus could not be divine. The sect were condemned by the Pope in 1184

Unitarianism- They are Deists (base their ideas on reason) and believed that Jesus was a great man and prophet, but only human., about 7,000 Unitarians in the UK today

Quakers are pacifists.. literalist

Liberal view would be to treat people well

Social Gospel - Give to the poor or go and seek out helping people
