Tell me about your aviation history.
I started my aviation history in 2013, in Campinas, São Paulo.
I did my private pilot’s flight training in a Cessna 152.
After that, I got my commercial pilot’s license with instrument and multi-engine ratings.
Then, I started flying the Cirrus SR22 as a captain, and I’ve flown this aircraft for two years.
Today, I fly the Meridian as a captain, and I have been flying it for two years.
I have around 1,000 flight hours, and I intend to join an airline in the future.
What is your favorite thing about aviation?
My favorite thing about aviation is the lifestyle because, as a pilot, I have the opportunity to visit many different places and meet new people.
I also like controlling and operating aircraft.
For me, aviation is a dream come true.
What is the difference between a captain and a Co-Pilot/First Officer?
I believe both pilots share the workload during the flight.
However, the captain has complete responsibility with the aircraft, the passengers, and the regulations.
The captain also has full authority during emergencies and the captain has more experience in the aircraft or seniority within the company.
On the other hand, the first officer has great training and provides assistance to the captain.
Today, I am a Captain.
What can cause a tail strike?
A tail strike can be caused by early rotation, excessive pitch, cargo movement, or tailwind.
How can pilots avoid a hailstorm?
We can avoid a hailstorm by performing good flight planning, reading weather forecasts and reports.
We can also avoid it by using the weather radar correctly, listening to pilot reports, making doglegs, and performing visual deviations.
Which one is more dangerous, a bird strike or a bird ingestion?
In my opinion, a bird ingestion is more dangerous than a bird strike because it can lead to engine damage, loss of power, or even engine failure.
Why are balloons dangerous?
Balloons are very dangerous because they can hit the aircraft and lead to loss of control, engine damage, loss of power, or even an engine failure.
What can cause a tire blowout?
A tire blowout can be caused by many reasons, for example: tire overheating, high tire pressure, debris on the runway, excessive braking, or material fatigue.
What is unreliable airspeed?
Unreliable airspeed is when my instruments show different airspeed indications. If I cannot identify which one is correct, I cannot trust the indications.
Why didn’t the pilot continue the flight? (Unreliable airspeed)
Unreliable airspeed is a serious problem because it can affect the autopilot, aircraft limitations, and even lead to a stall. In this case, it is better to land as soon as possible.
What can cause a fire in the cargo compartment?
As far as I know, a fire in the cargo compartment can be caused by an electrical malfunction, such as a short circuit, dangerous goods, a battery explosion, or even a bomb.
Why is a bird strike dangerous?
A bird strike is dangerous because it can cause loss of control, a cracked windshield, depressurization, or a fuel leak.
Nowadays, bird collisions are much more likely to happen due to environmental loss. It leads to an increasing number of reports once wildlife is highly protected. (Do you agree or disagree with this statement?)
I disagree with this statement. In my opinion, there are more reports today because the reporting system has improved.
I also think there are more flights nowadays, so the chances of bird strikes are higher.
