What have you done to prioritize caring for the Vulnerable and how have you ensured your team do this.
Knife Crime - Review of tasking.
It was a process that did not mean anything - intel flows in and tasks flow out.
It is important to bring about that there are people that sit behind the reports therefore I set about developing a two pronged approach.
Set up a tasking process - engage the team to come up with solutions - get the key partners around the table with the teams and present the problem and brain storm a solution.
These people are our most vulnerable - When looking at the increased perception of when violent crime is committed this occurs during a specific period in a young persons life and therefore targeted attempts to pull a young person from crime must be given.
The second approach was to ensure everyone put the victim at the forefront of there reports - When the intelligence was submitted - changed the marker to include vulnerable.
Changing that marker ensures that people consider the solution to the report they are putting on. Who is best to consider this? Police or other agency.
However do we get that to the other agencies in a timely fashion.
Doing this I have inspired my own team to take on the challenge. I ensure that they knew what they were doing was pro-active and innovative and therefore they were proud to be working on something that would make a real change.

Caring for Vulnerable victims
- We will deliver a multi-agency approach
- Invest in safeguarding
- Work more closely with criminal justice agencies to ensure vulnerability is taken into account through the court process.
- Engage partners to tackle criminality.
- Raise public awareness of the risk though engagement and education
- Provide greater crime prevention advice and signposting.
- Invest in data sharing with our partners
- Invest in partnership working and improve mechanisms for vulnerable persons to access services
- Invest in technology to support victims.
- Ensure our staff have the appropriate skill to investigate new and emerging crimes and ensure our recruitment process reflects that.
How does caring for Vulnerable victims link with the PCC
- Working with the most vulnerable in our communities to safeguard them from crime and harm.
- Supporting those with mental health issues, including those with learning difficulties.
- Working with young people, including those who have been either victims of crimes of offenders, to understand their needs and prevent them becoming involved in criminal activities.
