  • Sociology is scientific, therefore it must be objective and value free
  • They seek to copy the methodology of the physical sciences
  • Use surveys and official statistics (positivist)

A
  • Regardless of desirability, sociology cannot be value free
  • All our thoughts and actions are based on a particular set of values and it is impossible to escape them
