What is Neap Tide?
Occurs during the moon’s FIRST QUARTER and THIRD QUARTER phases. The line between the earth and the sun is at a right angle to the line between the earth and the moon.
What happens during Neap Tide?
The sun and moon are pulling in DIFFERENT DIRECTIONS so they partially cancel each other out. This makes high tides less high and low tides less low.
There are two neap tides each month.
What is Tidal Range?
The distance between high and low tides.
Which tides have the BIGGEST tidal range?
Spring tides
Which tides have the SMALLEST tidal range?
Neap tides
