Q

Why could Bruce Ismay be to blame for the sinking of the ship?

A
  • In charge of company owning the Titanic.
  • One of the first class passengers and managed to secure a place on a lifeboat.
  • Eager to prove Titanic was the biggest and most luxurious ocean liner, but also the fastest.
  • Might have made captain maintain top speed despite being near iceburg.
  • Witness claimed to hear Ismay and Smith arguing on evening of April 13th.
  • Supposed to have 32 lifeboats but he only added 20 to make space for first class cabins.
