It means that it can change. In experiments a psychologist will purposely change one variable and measure how another variable changes as a result.

The independent variable and the dependent variable.

Are variable other than the IV and which may have an effect on the DV if not controlled for.

What is confounding Variable?

-Confounding variable are variables other than the IV that do have an effect on the DV. We know they have had an effect because they vary systematically with the IV.
