DEFINITION: Victim
VRA 2002

A

3 types

  • Directly affected person - the person suffering the physical harm, property loss or damage
  • Parent or guardian of person directly affected if person affected is U17
  • Immediate family members, WHEN the person dies or becomes incapable as a result of the offence

Parents or immediate family members are not victims if they are charged with the offence against the victim of the offence

A

when welfare, health, counselling, medical, or legal needs are required arising from an offence, access to services responsive to those needs
