- Smear petroleum jelly over the cut stalk to stop water from leaving
- Measure the mass of each leaf
- Hang leaves on a string
- Support leaves on string with a retort stand
- Place in a warm area
- Repeat at a colder temperature with different leaves
- Measure mass after 24 hours
