• The arrested person is released without charge. (Released on police bail or under investigation = STILL ACTIVE.)
• No arrest is made within 12 months of an arrest warrant being issued.
• The case is discontinued, the defendant is acquitted or sentenced.
• They are found to be unfit to be tried, unfit to plead, or the court orders the charge to ‘lie on file.’
