usually have foundation or trust, a church it has some influence on the school but does not fund it.

function in same way as maintained schools but more pressure put on governing body as it has it’s own governing body that employs staff and sets admission policies

. They are run by local authority which employs staff, owns the land and buildings and sets out what child is eligible for a place. follow national curriculum

what is an academy?
They can decide if they follow the national curriculum as they have more freedom than community schools but they do have to do GCSEs and SATS. academies can be apart of a multi academy trust
What’s a free school?
Government funded but not run by local authority. can set term times and if they follow national curriculum and pay for staff.
what’s a private school?
They charge fees to attend. Do not have to follow Government funding do need exams at 16. Sometimes depending on situation local authorities can pay for a child to attend.
