A

Baneling (Zerg)

Reason: Hard Counter (AoE). Banelings are designed specifically to kill Zerglings. Their splash damage instantly clears swarms of light units.

Reason: Hard Counter (Bonus vs. Armored). Immortals are designed to kill armored units. They shred Roaches with their bonus damage while their Barrier negates the Roach’s initial attacks.

Reason: Strategic Vulnerability (Immobility). While a Queen can fight these units, they are too mobile for the Queen to chase. They can bypass the Queen to attack Drones or other hatcheries, exploiting the Queen’s slow speed.

Reason: Vulnerability to AoE. Hydralisks have low health and tend to clump together, making them extremely vulnerable to all forms of powerful splash damage like Storm and Purification Nova.

Reason: Vulnerability to AoE. Mutalisks must stack to be effective, making them a perfect target for an Archon’s splash damage or an Infestor’s Fungal Growth.

Reason: Grounded Anti-Air Superiority. The Corruptor’s air-to-air weapon is slow and designed for armored targets. High-DPS ground units like Hydralisks will shred Corruptors quickly.

Reason: High DPS. A mass of Void Rays with their Prismatic Beam charged will melt Corruptors, even though Corruptors are armored. The sustained damage is too high.

Reason: Immobility & AoE. A burrowed Lurker cannot dodge the Disruptor’s Purification Nova, which will kill it in one shot.

Reason: Out-Ranged & Zoning. Both units can attack the Lurker from outside its attack range, forcing it to unburrow and reposition.

Viper / Raven (Zerg / Terran)

Reason: Ability Counter & Detection. A Viper can Abduct a Lurker out of its position. A Raven’s Interference Matrix can disable a Lurker’s attack, rendering it useless for a short period.

Immortal (Protoss) ## Footnote Reason: Hard Counter (Bonus vs. Armored). An Ultralisk's greatest strength (its 8 armor with Chitinous Plating) is useless against the Immortal, which deals massive bonus damage and shreds it in seconds.

Ghost (Terran) ## Footnote Reason: Ability Counter (Steady Targeting). The Ghost's snipe ability completely bypasses the Ultralisk's armor and health, killing a 300 mineral/200 gas unit with energy.

Liberator (Terran) ## Footnote Reason: Air-to-Ground Vulnerability & Zoning. Ultralisks cannot attack air. A well-placed group of Liberators can create a kill-zone that Ultralisks cannot pass through or attack.

Viking (Terran) ## Footnote Reason: Hard Counter (Bonus vs. Armored & Range). Vikings are the premier anti-Brood Lord unit. They are fast, have long range, and deal bonus damage to them.

Tempest / Carrier (Protoss) ## Footnote Reason: Out-Ranged / Overwhelm. Tempests have longer range and can pick Brood Lords off safely. A critical mass of Carriers can launch enough Interceptors to overwhelm the Broodlings and kill the Brood Lords.

Viper (Zerg) ## Footnote Reason: Ability Counter (Abduct). The enemy Viper is the greatest threat in a late-game scenario, as it can pull your expensive Brood Lords into their anti-air one by one.

Ghost (Terran) ## Footnote Reason: Ability Counter (EMP & Snipe). A Ghost's EMP Round instantly drains all energy from your spellcasters, rendering them useless. Snipe can also kill them outright.

High Templar (Protoss) ## Footnote Reason: Ability Counter (Feedback). Feedback instantly drains the caster's energy and deals damage equal to the energy drained, often killing the Viper or Infestor instantly.
