Outline Autonomy
- Independence/FoC for client
- RC to encourage client to make own decision on own values
2 NB Considerations: - help client understand impact of decision (how it may be received/impinge on others
- does client have the ability to make sound and rational decisions (then not allowed to act of Ds that could harm)
Outline Non-maleficence (3 points)
- causing no harm to others
- most critical of all Ps
- no intentional harm, and no engaging in risk of harm
Outline Beneficence

- RC’s duty to contribute to welfare of the client (do good, prevent harm)
Outline Justice (1 point)
- treat individuals differently when and it is necessary (basically equity)
Outline Fidelity (2 points)
- notion of loyalty, faithfulness, commitment honoring
- needed for trust of client and therefore and effective relationship
List the steps in the ACA Ethical Decision Making Model
- Identify the problem
- Apply code of ethics (may solve it, if not, proceed w step three)
- Determine nature and dimensions of dilemma
- Generate potential courses of action (enlist colleagues)
- Consider consequences (for ALL parties), determine course
- Evaluate course of action (justice, publicity, universality)
- Implement course of action (and follow up)

Identify the problem:

- seek legal advice if legal problem
- Is it related to the actions of
a) myself

Four avenues to follows to ensure one has considered all dimensions:
- consider moral principles and determine which takes priority in this case (challenging!)
- review literature, use most current thinking
- consult colleagues/sups for perspective
- consult professional associations
