If the injured employee is transported to the Emergency Room, contact the
Supervisor/Battalion Chief/District Chief and assess the need for family

How often to check email?

Zero Tollerance for?
discrimination, harassment, or retaliation — even if it’s not illegal. One act can get you disciplined or fired.

Harrassment Examples?
Verbal: slurs, jokes, comments on appearance/dress/gender ID, propositioning
Physical: touching, blocking, assault
Visual: posters, cartoons, emails, drawings
Sexual: unwanted advances, quid pro quo, creating hostile environment
Key Rule for Harrassment
it would be unwelcome to a reasonable person in the same protected class
An employee, job applicant, or contractor who believes he or she has been harassed
may make a complaint verbally or in writing with any of the following. no need for chain of command
If i receive a harassment complaint, who do i notify?

Managers are responsible for
Modeling appropriate behavior.
2. Taking all steps necessary to prevent harassment, discrimination, or retaliation
from occurring.
3. Receiving complaints in a fair and serious manner and documenting steps taken
to resolve complaints.
4. Monitoring the work environment and taking immediate appropriate action to stop
potential violations, such as removing inappropriate pictures or correcting
inappropriate language.
5. Following up with those who have complained to ensure that the behavior has
stopped and that there are no reprisals.
