How are attitudes formed
through socialisation, this happens through media, culture, MKO’s like coahces and siblings
What is an attitude
It is something that is learnt, A predisposition to an attitude object.
what is the traidic model of attitudes
breaks down attitude into
1) the cognative component
2) The affective component
3) the behavioural component
THINK CAB.
explain the cognative component
their beliefs knowledge, values and undertsanding towards an attitude object
AO2: negative would be believes he will get hurt
Positive will be believes it is good to participate as it makes them healthier and therefore more likely to win games
what is the affective component
the emotions and feelings
AO2: negative- fearful, nervous, anxious
posiitve- excited, eager, keen
What is the behavioural component
How they behave towards the attitude object
AO2: negative- acting avoidant, didn’t bring PE kit, Late to the lesson
Positive- brining kit, approach behaviour, first to lesson
What is cognative dissonance
bein in 2 minds about something, having a conflict and imbalance
how can a coach change cognative dissonance
starts at a negative congruance (All of CAB is negative)
the coach will turn one of the CAB attitude’s into a positive one. Eg., tell the player he wont get hurt playing rugby as it will just be touch and they will start from the basics, giving him the knowledge and understanding
then, the player will be in a cognative dissonance, the 1 + will outweigh the negatives and then the others will turn +
what are the 4 parts of the persuasive communication theory

eg: other team members being around the recipient.
