Answer 1

3x + 12
3 times x is 3x
3 times 4 is 12
Yous times all components by the numbers beside the brackets

Question 2

(x + 3) (x + 5)

Answer 2

= x(x + 5) + 3(x + 5)
= x ² + 5x + 3x + 15
= x ² + 8x + 15
Multiply out the second bracket by using the first brackets components the second bracket appears twice and is timed by each of the first brackets characters
Then you add all components with the same values like 2x and 12x would be the same
