1

Q

How is China used as an example for migration and allele frequency change?

A

-In the past, the Chinese population all have the Rh-positive blood group.
-The Rh or Rhesus factor, is an antigen found on the surface of a red blood cell.
-People with this antigen are referred to as Rh+ (those who do not have the antigen are Rh-)
-European immigrants and sailors introduced the Rh- allele into the Chinese population.
-However the frequency of the allele is still very low in China compared to other countries

Q

Use an example of how the distribution of the ABO blood groups has been influenced by migration
