Q

a knight is not inherently more valuable than a bishop; the bishop is generally considered slightly more valuable (around 3.25 pawns to the knight’s 3 pawns), but their worth is highly dependent on the specific position and pawn structure of the game. In closed positions, where pawns block movement, the knight’s ability to jump over pieces makes it more valuable, while in open positions, the bishop’s long-range movement becomes more powerful.

Q

When you are in check you must escape. The ways to get out of check are to move the king, block the check with another piece, or capture the checking piece.
