“Tikanga”

“Kawa”
Marae ptotocol - customs of the marae and wharenui, particularly those related to formal activities such as pohiri, speeches and mihimihi.
“Tapu”
Be sacred, prohibited, restricted, set apart, forbidden, under atua protection.
“Noa”
To be free from the extensions of tapu, ordinary, unrestricted, void.
“Mana Whenua”
Territorial rights, power from the land, authority/juristiction over land.
“Whanaungatanga”
Relationship, kinship, sense of family connection.
“Whakawhanaungatanga”
The practice of creating relationships through shared experiences.
