carbon capture and storage
changes in rural land use
-GRASSLANDS- these offer a global green house gas mitigation potential as carbon could be sequestered into soil. these can be improved by:
avoid overstocking grazing animals, irrigation can improve plant productivity
-CROPLANDS- helps increase soil organic carbon this can be done by:
reducing ploughing-avoid the accelerated decomposition of organic matter
-rotation of cash crops to help increase biomass returned to soil
-FORESTED LAND AND TREE CROPS=forests are able to reduce co2 emissions to the atmosphere by storing lots of carbon
-reforesting degraded land increases biomass density so increases carbon density
improved aviation practices
local and individual strategies
regional and national strategies
