The particle model of matter is
All matter is made of particles
What does the density of an object depend on?
Substance and state of matter (solid, liquid or gas)
What is density?
Amount of mass in a volume, tells us how tightly matter is packed together
Equation for density
Density = mass(kg)/volume(metres squared)
Difference in density between solids, liquids and gases due to arrangement of particles
Solids - particles tightly packed in fixed position, ordered arrangement and a high density
Liquids - close together but randomly arranged, move fast past each other, less dense than solids
Gases - lowest density, particles far apart, move randomly everywhere
What is mass
How much matter a object has use weigh scales
What is volume
How much space something takes up (cm cubed/ meters cubed)
