Anal Stage

A

18 months-3 years.
Gratification comes from the anus and bladder. Main focus is mastering toilet training. Anal fixation or extreme pressure from parents can lead into obsession with cleanliness, perfection, and control (anal retentive). Lack of attention to toilet training leads to messy and disorganized (anal expulsive).

Phallic Stage

A

3-6 years.
Children explore bodies, mainly genitals and show sexual attraction of the opposite sex. Females attracted to the dad (Electra complex) and males attracted to the mom (Oedipus complex) can occur, trying to win bonds over parents.

Latent Stage

A

6-puberty.
Sexual interests is dormant and children are more focused in school, hobbies and friends. Children are drawn to some same sex peers for playmates.

Genital stage

A

Puberty-end of life.
Onset of puberty is different. Individual becomes more compassionate and focuses on others instead. Engage in physically and intimate relationships and strive for healthy long-term patterns.
