DURING THE PROCEDURE

  2. Prepare the Lancing device
    a. remove cap
    b. insert a new lancet
    c. replace the lancing device cap securely
    d. adjust depth level
    e. cock device until you hear a click
  3. Prepare the finger
    a. ask the patient to wash and dry their hands
    b. choose the side of the fingertip
  4. Obtain the blood sample
    a. place lancing device against the side of the fingertip
    b. press the trigger to release lancet
    c. gently massage until a small drop of blood form
