Contains
Sodium (Na+) - 130mEg/L
Potassium (K+) - 4mEg/L
Calcium (Ca2+) - 3mEg/L
Chloride (Cl-) - 109mEg/L
and 28mEg of lactate (lactic acid) to act as a buffer

Hypovolemic shock
TKVO - “to keep vein open” - maintain openness of vein
Fluid resus for burn pts to avoid hypernatremia (high blood sodium) from NS
Lactated Ringers - Contraindications
Pts w CHF, renal or liver failure
Lactated Ringers - Precautions
Pts receiving Ringers should be monitored to prevent circulatory overload
Lactated Ringers - Side Effects
Rare is used w/in therapeutic dosages
Lactated Ringers - Dose
Adult
20mL/kg - max 3L
or
titrate to 80-90 systolic for suspected abdo bleeds or 100-110 systolic for TBI
Peds
20mL/kg - max 3 boluses (PEARS)
TKVO - 60mL/hr - all ages
