2
Q

What is a screening test?

A
  • usually relatively cheap
    and simple
  • used to test large numbers of
asymptomatic people to identify early disease
  • will then go on to have further diagnostic tests to confirm the diagnosis

Q

What do we need to consider for screening?

A
  • Seriousness of disease
  • Ability to alter course of disease
  • Lead time
  • Prevalence of pre-clinical disease

Q

When does the Prevalence of pre-clinical disease not matter when considering screening?

A
  • Serious disease
  • Cheap and easy to administer test
