Cabin Altitude

A

Condition: Cabin altitude is excessive

Don the oxygen masks

Establish crew communications

Check cabin altitude and rate

If cabin altitude is uncontrollable
PASS OXYGEN switch…Push to ON and hold for 1 second

Without delay, descend to the lowest safe altitude or 10,000 ft (highest). If fuel is critical, descend to 14,000 ft

Thrust Levers…Idle
Extend Speedbrakes
If structural integrity at doubt, limit airspeed and avoid high manoeuvring loads
Descend at Vmo/Mmo

If cabin altitude is controllable, continue normal operation

Q

Approach to Stall or Stall recovery

A

RECOVERY

PF - INITIATE THE RECOVERY
Smoothly apply nose down elevator to reduce the angle of attack until buffet or stick shaker stops

CONTINUE THE RECOVERY
Roll in shortest direction to wings level if needed

Advance thrust levers as needed

Retract the speedbrakes

Do not change gear or flap except during liftoff, if flaps are up, call for Flaps 1

COMPLETE THE RECOVERY
Check airspeed and adjust thrust as needed

Establish pitch attitude

Return to desired flight path

Re-engage the autopilot and auto throttle if desired

PM

•Monitor altitude and airspeed

•Verify all required actions have been done and callout any omissions

•Callout any trend towards terrain contact

Q

Rejected Takeoff

A

Prior to 80 kts reject for:
Master caution
System failure
Unusual noise or vibration
Tire failure
Abnormally slow acceleration
Takeoff config warning
Fire
Windshear
Unsafe conditions

Prior to V1
Fire
Engine failure
Windshear
Airplane is unsafe or unable to fly

PF

**Close thrust levers

Verify max brakes** either with Autobrake or manual braking

Apply reverse thrust up to the max amount consistent with conditions

Verify speedbrakes extended

Continue braking until certain the airplane can stop on the runway

When stopping is assured:
Start movement of the reverse thrust levers to reach reverse idle detent before taxi speed. After the engines are at reverse idle move the reverse thrust levers to full down.

PM

**Verify -

Thrust levers closed
Autothrottle’s disengaged
Maximum brakes applied
Reverse thrust applied**

SPEEDBRAKES UP
NO SPEEDBRAKES

REVERSERS NORMAL
NO REVERSER RIGHT

60 knots

Call ATC

Stopped

REMAIN SEATED AND AWAIT FURTHER INSTRUCTIONS

ATTENTION ATTENTION CABIN CREW AT STATIONS

Consider:
Wheel fuse plugs melting.
They need to clear the runway.
The requirement for remote parking
Wind Direction in case of fire.
Alerting fire equipment.
Not setting the part brake unless passenger evacuation is needed.
Advising the ground crew of hot brake hazard
Advising passengers of the need to remain seated or evacuate
Completion of non normal checklists

Windshear

A

Manual flight

WINDSHEAR TOGA

Disconnect A/Thr
Wings level, Pitch 15°
Speedbrakes retracted
Follow FD toga guidance

Automatic flight

WINDSHEAR TOGA
Push TOGA
Verify toga FMAs
Verify GA thrust
Verify Speedbrakes retracted
Monitor system performance

BOTH
-Do not change gear or flap configuration until windshear is no longer a factor.
-Maintain wings level to maximise climb gradient unless a turn is required for obstacle clearance.
-Monitor vertical speed and altitude.
-Do not attempt to regain lost airspeed until wind is no longer a factor.
-When wind is no longer a factor call CLEAR OF WINDSHEAR

Cleaning up…
(Can set 85% N1 and 10 degrees)
Bug speed
A/T on with…FLCH, VNAV

If windshear is suspected on take off then use OPT calc under RTG for WINDSHEAR

23
Q

When should you land at the nearest suitable airport?

A

When the checklist states it

Fire or smoke continues

Only 2 AC power sources remain (2 main engine generators or one main generator and both APU generators)

Any other situation as determined by flight crew to have an affect on safety

QRH CI.2.7

24
Q

Requirements of an Adequate Aerodrome and
EDTO Alternate Aerodrome
RG1 OPS.15

A

Adequate Aerodrome
-Rescue Fire
-Runway length and strength
-Visual or electronic glideslope

EDTO alternate Aerodrome
-facilities for passengers and crew
-authorised in Ops Specs
-has a passenger recovery plan for over EDTO180
-met forecast available
-one instrument approach procedure
-ATC or flight service available 30 min before use
-Rescue Fire min cat 4
-Visual or electronic glideslope
-Sufficient lighting. At night medium intensity and runway threshold lighting is minimum unless low intensity light is authorised. Plus standby power available unless day or another alternate carried.

25
When to select Climb 2/1
When above 230t… Must at flap up select CLB1 …but… Can select CLB2 at any altitude (10,000-FL250 is best), consider CLB2 at 10,000 if able. When below 230t… Must at flap up select CLB2 …but… Can select CLB 1 above FL250 if needed
26
Turbulence penetration speed
290 kts below FL250 310/0.84 (lowest) AT and above FL250
