What is the function of the common core system also known as CCS?
The CCS provides a common computing network and data exchange system for the majority of aeroplane systems
What are the main components of the CCS?
The common computing resource also known as CCR which has a left and right cabinet
When power is applied to the aircraft for example battery external or APU which CCR starts up first ?
The left CCR and this takes 2 to 3 minutes approximately. when the left CCR completes start-up and a power source other than the battery is available, the other CCR will come online and all displays and the HUD combiners show their default formats.
What is the air source for the packs?
Outside Air
How many cabin air compressor are there?
There are four CAC’s
What is the purpose of the CAC’s?
To pressurise and regulate flow of outside air to the packs
How many CAC’s are required to provide sufficient Air to a single pack in all modes?
One
What is the source of the Flight deck Air?
The Flight deck receives 100% conditioned outside Air
How many pack control systems are there?
Two
What is the purpose of the alternate ventilation system also known as AVS?
To ventilate the cabin and Flight deck when both packs are inoperative
What is the source of air for the forward cargo heating system?
Forward E/E exhaust ventilation air..
How is the temperature controlled in the forward cargo hold?
Automatically using forward E/E exhaust air, a dedicated refrigeration unit, an in-line electric heater and a Ford cargo exhaust fan
Where are the controls for the forward cargo and bulk heat?
Overhead panel
What does selecting the forward cargo flow switch to high attempt to achieve?
To prevent or remove cargo odours from the passenger cabin
What is the source of air for the bulk cargo heating?
Cabin Air passing through a supply fan, an in-line heater and residual heat from the aft E/E cooling exhaust
With auto selected for the bulk cargo temperature, how is airflow increased?
The bulk ventilation fan operates
Should live animals be carried in the after cargo compartment?
No that aft cargo compartment is not temperature controlled
What is the source of air for the air cargo heat?
Aft E/E cooling exhaust air
Which areas does the forward equipment cooling system provide cooling airflow?
Flight deck and forward E/E equipment compartment
Which areas does the aft equipment cooling system provide cooling airflow?
The aft E/E equipment compartment
With the forward or aft equipment cooling system in auto, where is the cooling air drawn from? And what moves the cooling air through the system and where is the Air exhausted?
Cabin Air
Moved by one of two supply fans and exhausted by a dedicated overboard vent valve or to the appropriate cargo compartment if it requires additional heat
With the forward or aft equipment cooling system in override, how is Air drawn through the system and where is this Air exhausted?
Cabin differential pressure draws Air to create a reverse flow of air across the equipment and it is exhausted through the override valve to an overboard Venturi
What is achieved with the forward equipment cooling switch in override and what is achieved with the aft equipment cooling switch in override?
The forward equipment cooling switch AIDS smoke evacuation from the Flight deck and the aft equipment cooling switch AIDS smoke evacuation from the passenger cabin
Where is the power electronics cooling system located also known as PECS?
After E/E equipment compartment
