What are you looking to get out of this work experience/interested in this experience
-Gain a more detailled understanding of public finance and how day to day work directly/indirectly impacts patient care and services throughout the nhs.
-Id like to build and develop skills whether that be practical with things like team work, general workplace awareness, attention to detail and so on. But also technical skills with whatever ill be tasked doing
for example learning and working with specific systems/softwares that are used on a daily basis.
-But overall learn as much as possible about public finance and improve personally (skills, knowledge) wherever i can.
What interests you in career in the NHS/public finance
I’d say it’s a career where the work has a real impact — whether direct or indirect — on real people’s lives. It feels more meaningful and personally rewarding compared to most careers in finance
.From what I understand, public finance is about using limited resources to solve real problems — that’s something I find really motivating. I’ve always enjoyed problem-solving, and the added responsibility that comes with working with taxpayer money makes the work feel even more important. That sense of accountability really interests me.
Of course, seeing my mum have an impact and make a difference within the NHS has definitely motivated me to follow in her footsteps and make my own contribution to improving the NHS.
I’d say I’m a very logical and rational person. I’ve always liked working with numbers and have an interest in finance in general, so being able to apply those skills in a career that directly impacts people’s lives is a huge motivator.
your understanding of public finance
-In general finance teams have to manage and allocate budgets effetively, financial reporting, cost management and forecasting are all tasks carried out.
-one aim is to support departments wherever possible and make well informed decisions making sure recourses are being used effeciely.
-Since NHS budgets are prediminantly tax payer money theres an added sense of responsibilty, so transparency and obviously effiency is key.
But genreally id say it’s about solving problems, using resources wisely, and supporting clinical teams to deliver the best patient care possible.
