1. Objectivity: Immersion in the groups activities may comprimise the obsevers objectivity, as personal biases may affect interpretation of data.
2. Informed consent, deception, protection from harm, privacy (uncomfortable/ exposed)

1. Objectivity: Can be maintained as obsevers are less likely to become emotionally involved, biased as they are detached from the social context.
2. Fewer ethical concerns: As they dont directly enage with the ppts.

1. Validity: This lack of proximity means the researcher may overlook behaviours of interest, or misinterpret social cues due to a lack of insider perspective and context. (incomplete/ inaccurate observations)
