Used to assess the pH in the esophagus to see whether or not stomach contents are refluxing from the stomach into the esophagus

1. Probe is in place for 24 hours
2. Expect a scratchy feeling in the back of the throat
3. May feel a need to cough as tube is being inserted
4. Infants and toddlers must wear mittens and/or arm restraints
5. Eat 3-4 meals without snacking in between
