What is a UM and what are the main points to brief them on?

Answer 1

Child who is 5-11 and is flying alone

• introduce yourself
• location of seatbelt and it’s regulations
• the nearest emergency exit and that you will be looking out for them
• pay attention to safety demo
• location of the toilet
• explain procedures for any transit stops
• location of call button

Question 2

What is the procedure upon receiving a UM?

Answer 2

• confirm all paperwork is correct and completed
• check CSO has written their details
• UM will need to be in last row
• must not be seated next to a male
• board first and disembark last

Question 3

Procedure upon delivering UM?

Answer 3

• sight and check photo Is
• collect signature from receiver on UM paperwork
• if no photo ID, sight two other ID’s
• if receiver isn’t present, sign UM to CSO
• give paperwork with collected signature to captain
