CREW INCAPACITATION

A

(Main Points)

  • Try to detect early (inform if not feeling well, no responses from other pilot, pilot looks or sounds unwell)
  • Take over and ensure safe flight path
  • Announce “I Have Control”
  • Deactivate other sidestick, if needed
  • Use onside AP
  • Continue callouts for both pilots and checklists aloud.
    -Inform ATC of emergency.
    -Call FA
    -Ask for medical help
    -FA to report to cockpit to lock shoulder harness/recline/assist/remove body
    -Land at nearest suitable airport

In Cruise (don’t decelerate below green dot)…
(1) THR LVRs…MCT
(2) A/THR…OFF
(3) HDG…SET AND PULL
(4) DRIFT DOWN CEILING (PERF-CRZ PAGE)…DETERMINE
(5) ATC…NOTIFY
(6) SPD…SET GDOT AND PULL
(7) ALT ON FCU…SET AND PULL
(8) WHEN CLEAR OF OBSTACLES…RETURN TO STANDARD STRATEGY

Main Points

WARNINGS are:
PFD:
W/S AHEAD (red)
Aural:
“WINDSHEAR AHEAD”
“GO AROUND WINDSHEAR AHEAD”

CAUTIONS are:
PFD:
W/S AHEAD (amber)
Aural:
“MONITOR RADAR DISPLAY”

PWS inhibited from above 100kts up to 50 feet.

Before takeoff (warning and caution)…delay takeoff until conditions improve.

During takeoff roll (warning)…REJECT.

During takeoff roll (caution)…CA decision to CONTINUE with TOGA or REJECT.

Initial climb (warning and caution)…
-Set TOGA
-monitor speed and speed trend
-avoid WS area
-Can change config if not in windshear

Approach (caution)…
MONITOR RADAR DISPLAY…
-Delay approach
-Divert
-Continue with appropriate mitigation strategies (assess severity/best runway/flaps 3 for best GA perf/managed speed for GS mini)
-VLS no more than +15kts.

Approach (warning)…
-Set TOGA
-GA perform
-SRS follow
-Can change config if not in windshear
