Q

Give us a 360/ explain your thinking

A

I will conduct a 360 utilizing the tool PbRrmEe. I will be using this tool for the entirety of my 360.

People - I am developing a victim profile based on time of day, vehicles at home, witness reports, or people seen. I assume the structure is occupied until the structure is searched.

Building - evaluating building construction

Resources - what is my current response package/ do I need to upgrade?

Red - Do i see fire?

Moving - where is the fire going?

exposures - working from the exterior in do I have any exposures?

emergencies - Do I see any scene hazards that will affect fire ground safety?

Q

what are your tactical priorities on a structure fire?

A

My tactical priorities are based off of RECEO VS. Rescue, exposure, confinement, extinguishment, overhaul , vent, salvage

I dont see any victims but I have a high victim profile based off of….we will confine and extinguish the fire to its room of origin to protect any interior/exterior exposures. Once we have knockdown we will immediately conduct a search off of the hose line for victims. throughout fire attack I will assess the needs for vent and radio command for any additional needs. once these priorities are met we will conduct salvage and overhaul

Q

what are the two modes of operation on a fireground?

A

offensive - FF’s exposed to IDLH
defensive - conditions/ structure dictate work to be done from the exterior

  • IC to announce the mode of operation, if not then it will be assumed that we are offensive

primary - exterior rescue & vent secondary - egress, utilities, RIT support, salvage
26
truck company function definition / typical assignment per structure type
used for fire ground ops that do not directly involve extinguishment residential - truck ops apartment - truck ops commercial - single source
27
rescue functions
tasked to a heavy unit
28
medic functions
non combative - recon, hydrant, scene control
29
describe the niosh 5
improper risk assessment lack of IC lack of accountability inadequate communication lack of SOP'S or failure to follow them
30
When will command conduct a PAR?
-change from offensive to defensive -major negative change in fire conditions -missing FF -injured FF -MAYDAY - as command sees necessary
31
How do we do air level reporting?
- when the first member of your crew has reached %50 - Respond with a CARA report - conditions - actions -resources -air level
32
Describe the "rules of air management" as a company officer
- know your crews air and go off of lowest amount - leave IDLH before low air alarm sounds - Rule of thirds = work period + exit time + margin for error
33
Response package for Residential fire Urban TF/1st/ 2nd alarm
TF - 2E, 2Truck, 1BC, 1 R or SQ 1st - 2E,1HR,1SQ,1RH, 1BC, 1FI, 1ambulance 2nd - 4E,1Truck
34
Response package for Residential fire Rural TF/1st/2nd alarm
TF - 2E, 2Truck, 1BC, 1 R or SQ, 2 Tenders 1st - 2E,1HR,1SQ,1 Rehab, 1BC,1 FI,1 ambulance, 2Tenders 2nd - 4E, 2Tenders
35
AWS 1st in
- drive direct to scene - relay needs to 2nd in - order alarm upgrade/ task 3rd in WSG
36
AWS 2nd in
- drop tail, communicate/ mark location - lay in to scene ( advise if short) - connect to attack pumper - connect 3" for dual pumping
37
AWS 3rd in
- pick up tail and establish dump site - send tank water at idle - empty one tender at a time - you are WSG supervisor
38
AWS 4th in
- establish fill site - establish fill site manager - report to water supply supervisor
39
what are typical unit assignments for a 2nd alarm structure fire?
E1 -FA E2 - command/ assist FA E3 - backup / secondary E4 - backup/ secondary line T1 - truck ops/ single source ( search) T2 - truck ops/ single source (vent)/ RIT HR - RIT
40
when will divisions/ groups be made?
size - span of control, geography complexity - greater needs, specialty team need?
41
Incident command definitions... IC section branch div/group task
IC - incident command Section - chief Branch - director Div/group -supervisor Task - leader
42
Roles/ responsibility of group/ div supervisor
SSAC-BRO-HAM - safety, supervision, accountability, communications (My roles) - safety - I am in charge for the safety of my crews - supervision - I will engage in active supervision of my crews - accountability - I will be aware of where all of my crews are at. communications - I will try stay in active communications with all crews assigned to me. - Boundaries, resources, objectives (where/who/goals) boundaries - where my division is at resources - who is assigned to my division objectives - what are my objectives tasked to me by command? - Hostile, agile, mobile (how I act) hostile - direct authoritarian communication agile - In/out of IDLH checking status of crews/task mobile - I will not be in the cab
43
what reporting format do you use to transfer command?
CAN
44
in the ICS structure, what are the operation levels we work in?
Operational levels - - (what if) strategic - direction of the incident/ what are we going to do? - (next) tactical - objectives assigned/ how down do it? - (now) task - work assigned / order given
45
emergency comms abandon
exit hazard zone immediately & take tools only that you need
46
emergency comms CARA
conditions actions resources air
47
emergency communications emergency traffic
used to relay critical life safety message
48
emergency comms mayday
used indicate missing, trapped, or injured FF
49
withdraw communications
tactical exit with tools and hose
50
who is "base manager"?
first arriving engine on 2nd alarm
51
staging manager responsibilities
-check in all units -dispatch resources at request of command - request logistics if needed - separate ops channel
52
Active threat command priorities
- establish and retain command until BC arrives - establish medical branch - form unified command with LE officer - determine number of and location of FRT's - determine number of casualties - determine CCP's - establish base location - declare MCI
53
Highway response command responsibilities
- establish command - operate as safety officer - contact PD/ODOT - establish unified command if needed for large scale incident
54
Landing zone frp
- flat if possible - 100x100 - mark LZ with 5th marker upwind - identify hazards - notify medical branch of location - maintain security of LZ
55
explain how come up with how many tenders that you need for AWS?
GPM x Turnaround Time / 2,500 ex. 250 gallons x 20 minutes / 2500= 2
56
what stations have tenders?
34,35,50,62,65 = 8 total

59
2nd in structure fire orders to crew
