what is meant by a literature review?

A

The into/background to any primary research paper explains why the topic is important and the gap in the knowledge that the research seeks to address.

A

○ Dictates how the rest of the research process will be carried out

A

○ This is guided by the question (eg cause and effect usually needs an RCT.
- Lived experiences usually warrants phenomenology

What is meant by ethics?

A

○ Have ethical issues been taken into consideration? - all primary research must have research ethics approval before it can commence.
- Secondary research and quality improving projects do not need research ethics approval

what is meant by samples?

A

○ Quantitative: random sampling, but often uses non random sampling and large numbers.
○ Qualitative: almost always uses a chosen or purposive sample: non-random sampling - tends to be smaller.
- Samples must always be representative of the population

○ Measurement is used for quantitative data collection
