-large georgian houses were built following the victoria era with more grand houses named the “Georgian quater” which became the home of the rich slave merchants
-Toxteth was an area for middle class to commute in the earely 19th century- rural-urban fringe
-industrialisation filled toxteth with cheap, terraced housing for workers in docks- poor labour conditions

A

-Port is on the wrong side of UK as businesses switch to trade with European more
-deindustrialisation in the 80s( containerisation meant less dock workers needed, mersey too shallow, manufacturing begins to move abroad
- large unemployment caused civil unrest led to the “toxteth riots” in 1981

-In the riverside ward of liverpools city council- there are 30 wards
-Rebranding ie the European Capital of culture 2008 which made £800million
-“Tate liverpool”- aet and culture
