Inhibitor to the Lysine receptor found on plasminogen, preventing plasmin from binding to and ultimately stabilizing the fibrin matrix
Tranexamic Acid Indications
Traumatic injuries within the last three hours with either:
signs and symptoms of hemorrhagic shock with SBP<90
AND/OR
significant hemorrhage with heart rate >/= 120
Tranexamic Acid Contraindications (3)
Suspected traumatic brain injury
Pediatrics
Arterial or venous thromboembolism
Tranexamic Acid Adult Dose
1g in 50-100mL over 10 minutes IVPB
