Avogadro’s law
Equal volumes of all gases measured under the same concentrations of temperature and pressure contain equal numbers of molecules.
Ideal gas
Consists of moving particles with negligible volume and no intermolecular forces. All collisions between particles are considered elastic.
Elastic collision
A type of collision in which the total momentum and total kinetic energy of the system are conserved.
Real gases
Non-ideal gases that deviate from the idea gas model/law because their molecules have volume and intermolecular forces (particularly at low temperature and high pressure).
Limitations of the ideal gas model
Ideal gas equation / Formula for the relationship between the pressure, temperature and amount of an ideal gas
PV = nRT
Combine gas law
P1V1/T1=P2V2/T2
What determines the theoretical yield?
The limiting reactant.
% yield
experimental yield/theoretical yield x 100%
Atom economy - equation and what it is.
A measure of efficiency in green chemistry (how efficiently a chemical reaction converts reactants into its desired products)
atom economy = molar mass of product/molar mass of all reactants x 10%
