1
Q

What is the property of High Latent Heat of Vapourisation of water

A

Lots if energy required to break Hydrogen bonds, so lots of energy required to evaporate water.

When water evaporates, thermal energy is released away from the surface, hence it can cool body temperature.

Q

What is Cohesion in terms of water

A

Hydrogen bonds cause surface tension when water meets air because H2O molecules pack together.

Cohesion allows water to move up the stems of plants.

Q

How does water have a High Heat Capacity?

A

Due to numerous Hydrogen bonds.

Takes a LOT of energy to change temperature.

So water can buffer any change of temperature in a living organism.
