Q

what is the frustration agression hypothesis

A
  • dollard
  • inevitable agg will ocur when an inds goal are consistently blocked as causes a build up of frustration
  • build up is released by agg act - catharsis
  • not all frustration leads to agg - some can control
  • e,g opp in football constsntly blocks path might get frustrated and push them

Q

what is social learning theory in terms of agg

A
  • agg is a learned resp, copied from others - esp if reinforced
  • observe, identify, reinforce, copy - e.g if see preoss footballer foul and ref misses and unsettles other player therefore gaining an adv are more likely to copy
  • most likely to be copied by a sig other, live, consistent, powerful and bright agg

Q

what is the agg cue hypothesis

A
  • frustration leads to an inc in arousal - inc likelihood of agg if socially learnt cues are present (if arent present then oppositie occurs)
  • e.g fly half being constantly hit with hard tackles - player may lash out if behav has prev been allowed by coach etc but if knows will be punished then less likely
  • other agg cues - playing against players who are known to be dirty, local derbie (hostile environments)
