Side effect ( Etomidate )

A

HHHH
Hypotension hypertension hypoventilation hyperventilation

Apnea of short duration, respiratory depression, hypoventilation, hyperventiliation ,nystagmus( eyes switch back and forth ), dysrhythmia, hypotension, hypertension, nausea, vomiting. Twitches ( transient skeletal muscle twitch movements )

Contraindiction ( Etomidate )

A

Known hypersensitivity, labor/delivery, or septic shock particularly in children

Dose ( Etomidate )

A

Adult procedural: 0.2 TO 0.4 MG/KG iv OVER 30 TO 60 seconds max 20 mg

Pediatric : 0.2 TO 0.4 MG/KG IV IO over 30 to 60 seconds maximum 20 mg
