What is a traditional assessment and what types are there?
Written testing/exams
- Supply: more subjective like a short answer question
- Selection: objective grading like T/F or multiple choice question
What are the characteristics of good written assessments?
DOUVCR
- Discrimination (detects achievement differences in students)
- Usable (east to give and grade)
- Objective (w/out instructor bias)
- Valid (measures what its supposed to measure)
- Comprehensive (must fully use the objectives being measured)
- Reliable (consistent results)
