Primary Hypothyroidism
Caused by disease (Hashimoto’s disease), or loss of the thyroid gland (thyroidectomy, iodine deficiency, RAI treatment)

Caused by failure of the pituitary TSH deficiency or peripheral resistance to TH

Failure of the hypothalamus to produce thyroid-releasing factor
