Q

How to overcome Barriers in Communication?

A

*If we have physical distractions, try and focus on what that person is saying and
block the distracting image

*Try to understand your receiver’s point of view and social and cultural background.

*Speak and write short, simple sentences. It is more important to get the message
across than prove your superiority through obscure/ difficult language.

*Do not speak/ write when you feel agitated or upset. Wait till you are calm and then
express yourself. Even displeasure of better expressed when you are calm. The
receiver will then try to understand why you are upset, etc. instead of becoming
defensive.

*Understanding and have patience with cultural variations in communication instead
of jumping to conclusions about the recipient.
