Piaget: cognitive constructivism, individuals experiences through which learning occurs. understanding = independent invention
Vygotsky: social constructivism, negotiated learning through interaction. Understanding = social in origin
Phonemic awareness
children have difficulty with this. It’s awareness that words consist of different phonemes. Sand without s is very hard for kids. Makes reading very hard.
Rhyme
Comes naturally, important in learning to read/write.
Dyslexia
lack of phonemic awareness. Lack of ortographic transparency in English. Because ‘I’ can have different pronunciations.
