Things to think about with INOP APU?
Need to go through air start in QRH
Temperature in cabin
How do you know you will make the climb gradient in your aircraft?
Aerodata generated takeoff performance will not be generated if we can’t meet the climb requirements
What is RVSM?
RVSM is Reduced Vertical Separation Minimum airspace.
It exists between FL290 and FL410 and reduces vertical separation from 2,000 to 1,000 feet.
RVSM Equipment required
“2, 2, 1, 1” → Two, Two, One, One
This is the cleanest memory aid.
2 — Two independent altitude measurement systems
2 — Two altitude-reporting sources (1 transponder w/ Mode C/S)
1 — One altitude alerting system
1 — One automatic altitude control system (autopilot)
What is considered mountainous terrain.
The terrain has elevations of 5,000 ft MSL or more. make sure you remember its MSL
Icing conditions in my airplane
In-flight icing = Visible moisture + TAT ≤ 10°C
What altitude is Class A airspace?
Altitudes
Starts: 18,000 feet MSL (FL180)
Ends: 60,000 feet MSL (FL600)
Also includes all airspace overlying the waters within 12 NM of the U.S. coast above FL180.
What are the requirements for entering class A airspace?
“Class A = Above 18, Always IFR, Always Talking, Always Squawking.”
Above 18 = Starts at FL180
Always IFR = Must be on an IFR flight plan
Always Talking = ATC clearance required
Always Squawking = Mode C + ADS-B Out
