How should you pull up to a crime scene?

1. While several blocks away, turn off your siren and emergency lights to draw less attention
2. Park 2-3 houses away from the scene (crime scenes with guns, this usually puts you outside the killing zone but remember the killing zone can change and is dynamic. Typically if someone fires a gun inside the house an area about 120⁰ in front of the house is exposed to the gunfire)
3. Study the crowd (mood important) do not be afraid to leave and if you can safely, take the patient with you
4. Now that you have determined scene safety, you may approach the scene.But be cautious that the scene safety is dynamic and can change
5. Once you reach the patient’s side, remember that the first priority is your safety and your partner’s safety.And then the patient’s treatment
